congressCongressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), co-chair of the House Green Dogs, and Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA) offered an amendment to H.R. 6147, the Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Appropriations Act of 2019, that would ensure the Environmental Protection Agency’s Inspector General is allowed to continue its investigations into former Administrator Scott Pruitt.

Specifically, Connolly’s amendment would block funding to finalize EPA rulemakings initiated by former Administrator Pruitt until the inspector general’s investigations into Mr. Pruitt’s activities are complete. There are currently at least six IG investigations into Mr. Pruitt, including his travel, use of taxpayer dollars to decorate his office, his unprecedented security detail, and his use of multiple email accounts.

“Scott Pruitt’s self-dealing makes all swamp creatures blush. Throughout his tenure at the EPA he never missed an opportunity to exploit his public office for personal gain and the fact that Republicans looked the other way is shameful,” said Connolly. “Allowing the EPA inspector general to continue these investigations unimpeded is a step toward restoring accountability of the Trump cabinet.”

Text of the amendment is available here.
