Check forgery suspects sought in Waynesboro

Contributors

The Waynesboro Police Department is requesting assistance from the community to help locate two individuals involved in a check forgery case from last month.

On September 16, the suspects each entered a Waynesboro Union Bank & Trust location, 100 Lucy Lane and 251 North Poplar Ave, at approximately the same time and passed a bogus check written on the account of Shenandoah Tower Service of Staunton.  Both checks were for amounts over $3,500.

Similar forgery/uttering cases occurred at locations in Staunton and Augusta County.

The suspects are described as white males (one older, one younger), both having long hair tied back in ponytails and wearing traffic vests.  They gave names on the checks of “David Nathaniel Moats” and “Oscar Paz Maldonado.”  It is unknown if these are the suspects’ real identities or aliases.

Images from the banks’ surveillance system are attached.

If anyone has information as to the location of these individuals, please call the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 221-0878 to speak with Officer C Kimmell  or call Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at (800) 322-2017. Anyone who gives information that leads to an arrest of the offenders can receive a cash reward.
