generals-new logo2For the second time in four nights, the Waynesboro Generals bullpen couldn’t hold a 4-1 eighth-inning lead, and Charlottesville walked off in the 12th with an RBI single from Brian Fortier to record a 5-4 win Tuesday night.

Waynesboro (6-9), which has now lost four straight, got a solid start out of Robert Pearson, who gave up a run on eight hits in seven innings of work. Brooks Wilson came on in the eighth and got Colton Konvicka to ground out to second to lead off the inning, but Seth Lancaster singled with one out, Kevin Conway doubled to put runners on second and third, and Caleb Robinson hit an RBI single to plate Lancaster to make it 4-2.

Wilson struck out Cris Perez for the second out of the inning, but pinch-hitter Kyle Davis doubled on an 0-1 pitch to tie the game at 4-4.

The Generals would get just one man on base in the final four innings.

The 12th started for Charlottesville (6-10) with a leadoff walk from reliever Jamal Wilson (0-2) that put Kevin Conway on. Conway advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw, and Wilson then intentionally walked Billy Cooke and Perez to set up force plays on all the bases.

Reliever Connor Foltyn struck out Davis for the first out of the inning before Fortier singled on a 1-0 pitch to end it.
