City of Charlottesville officials will meet with representatives from Smart Growth America on April 28 and 29 as part of a free, grant-funded technical assistance program.
The workshop will audit key portions of the City zoning code to identify how it can encourage development patterns that help position Charlottesville for long-term economic growth. City officials hope to use the workshop as an opportunity to promote green infrastructure, outdoor lighting, and public health initiatives in Charlottesville.
“We are excited to have been selected for this grant. SGA’s technical expertise will help us write the rules we need to safeguard the unique character of Charlottesville.” said City Councilor Kathy Galvin
Charlottesville area residents are invited to join the workshop’s first day for an introductory presentation that will feature an overview of how zoning impacts the city’s economic goals. The event will be held April 28, 2015 starting 5:00 pm at The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in the Jefferson School City Center.
