Charlottesville Parks & Recreation scholarship program open to city residents

CharlottesvilleCharlottesville Parks and Recreation’s Scholarship Program is an avenue for City residents to participate in programs, camps, classes as well as attend and take advantage of the City’s recreational facilities. The program is available to eligible City of Charlottesville residents and provides for discounts off of resident rates for programs and facilities.

Scholarship awards are based upon household size and annual income determined by a sliding scale according to federal poverty guidelines published annually by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Discounts are awarded at the following thresholds: 25%, 50%, 75% and 90%.

Scholarship application forms are available at the Parks and Recreation administrative office on the downtown mall, at Carver Recreation Center, Smith Aquatic and Fitness Center, Washington Park Pool, Onesty Family Aquatic Center and on-line.

Benefits of the scholarship program include discounted rates for:

* Recreation Access Passes – Providing unlimited admissions to Carver Recreation Center, Smith Aquatic and Fitness Center and open gym time at Key Recreation Center
* Summer Pool Passes – Providing unlimited admissions to Booker T. Washington Park pool and Onesty Family Aquatic Center.
* Classes, Programs and Camps – Provides discounted registration fees for youth and adult programs year-round.
