Charles Haney hired as new Staunton city assessor

Charles HaneyCharles Haney Jr. has been named city assessor for the City of Staunton, effective July 1, 2016. He succeeds Jim Gallaher, who retired after serving as the City’s assessor for 27 years.

Haney comes to Staunton with 25 years of experience as an appraiser and is a Virginia certified general appraiser. Most recently, Haney worked for Albemarle County as a senior appraiser and previously served in the same role for the City of Charlottesville.

He also worked as an appraiser for Pape & Company, a residential and commercial real estate appraisal firm.

Haney is a graduate of James Madison University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He currently resides in Crozet with his wife and twin daughters.
