Bridgewater College invites local community to join Oratorio Choir

bridgewater-logo2Bridgewater College invites members of the local community to join its annual Oratorio Choir which will present a concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music.

Under the direction of Dr. John McCarty, assistant professor of music, the 70-voice choir of Bridgewater College faculty, staff, students and alumni, along with members of the local community, will perform Psalm 42 by Felix Mendelssohn.

“The Bridgewater Oratorio Choir is a wonderful tradition that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to work toward the goals of building community and making beautiful music,” said McCarty.

Rehearsals will be held on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Sept. 1, in the Carter Center.

Participation is free and music will be provided.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college, located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,800 undergraduate students.
