L_102910-cals-wineWines from Bluestone Vineyard in Bridgewater, along with several thousand wines from all over the world, traveled to San Francisco, California to be judged in the largest, most influential wine competition in America. The 35th annual San Francisco International Wine Competition was judged by a distinguished panel of nationally recognized experts on wine, with some of the best palates in the country.

Using a 100 point grading scale in their blind tastings, the judges awarded medals to four Bluestone Vineyard wines. With a score of 94 out of 100 points, the 2010 Meritage red blend received a gold medal, the 2013 Blue Ice wine, using Estate Grown Traminette, was also awarded a gold medal with a score of 91 out of 100 possible points. The 2012 Premium Bordeaux Blend, Houndstooth, was awarded a Silver Medal, and the newly released 2014 Viognier was awarded a Bronze Medal.

Bluestone Vineyard General Manager and Winemaker Lee Hartman comments on the awards “We’re really proud of the work our team and the farmers we work with have done to show that not only can Virginia stand up on an international stage with great wine, but demonstrate a real diversity of wine as well.”

The San Francisco International Wine Competition is held at The Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, California.
