Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Food Drive set for May 14

blue ridge area food bankThe 24th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is coming to neighborhoods across the country, including central and western Virginia.

On Saturday, May 14, when residents leave a bag of nonperishable groceries at their mailboxes (no glass please!), mail carriers will pick up the donated food for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB). Hundreds of volunteers will help the Food Bank retrieve and sort the collected items that come from the mail trucks.

This year, letter carriers and food banks hope to collect a record number of pounds. BRAFB’s goal is to surpass the 241,800 pounds, collected in 2015.
