CharlottesvilleBama Works has issued a $100,000 matching challenge grant to the City of Charlottesville to help fund the construction of the new McIntire Skate Park.

This will help close the funding gap between what the City of Charlottesville has allocated for the project and what is needed to fully construct the facility.  With the Bama Works challenge, the City is now in need of an additional $100,000 to reach its funding goal for the skate park of $1.7 million.

The new McIntire Skate Park will be located on the east side of the park and is the result of a community driven design and planning process.  Information regarding the new park’s design can be found at www.charlottesville.org/parksandrec.

“We are greatly thankful to Bama Works and their continued support of parks and recreation here in Charlottesville.  This challenge grant is a significant gift and will assist us in bringing the new skate park to reality,” said Brian Daly, City Parks and Recreation Director.

Anyone interested in supporting the new facility with a donation may contact Vic Garber, Recreation Division Manager at 434.970.3260 or via e-mail at[email protected].
