Baltimore tops Angels to close out first half

baltimore oriolesChris Tillman won his 12th game, and Baltimore closed out the first half with a 4-2 victory over the L.A. Angels on Sunday.

Tillman (12-2, 3.41 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) gave up a run on three hits in seven innings of work, striking out five and walking five.

The Angels pushed across an unearned run in the eighth off Brad Brach (15 holds, 0.91 ERA, 0.83 WHIP), before Zach Britton (27 saves, 0.72 ERA, 0.82 WHIP) closed things out with a scoreless ninth.

Chris Davis (.237/.348/.497, 22 HR, 58 RBI) and J.J. Hardy (.263/.295/.404, 3 HR, 18 RBI) each homered for the O’s (51-36), who go into the All-Star break with a two-game lead on Boston (49-38) and Toronto (51-40) in the AL East.

Tim Lincecum (1-3, 6.85 ERA, 2.07 WHIP) took the loss for the Angels (37-52), giving up three runs on nine hits in five and two-thirds inning.
