augusta-health-headerSchedule of events at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Va., for the month April 2015.

Healthcare Decisions Day—April 22—a day to review and write (if you don’t have them) Advance Directives, which are sometimes called Living Wills.  Volunteers from our Ethics Committee will be available from 1-2 pm in our Augusta Community Care building to provide consultations and forms to any who need them.  Please note that we are also always willing to arrange free Advance Directive consultations for anyone who may need help completing one.

Family and Friends CPR Class—April 29—Augusta Community Care Building—this  will be the first of several offerings throughout the year.  This class will not provide a course completion card that some require for their jobs, but will teach the basics of how to do CPR.  This is important—while 80% of heart attacks happen in the home, only 30% of our community knows how to do CPR.

Annual Free Skin Cancer Screening—May 4—Augusta Health Cancer Center–although this annual screening, conducted cooperatively with two local dermatology practices—does not occur until May (which is Skin Cancer Awareness Month), we can take signups now at 540.332.4190.  Appointments are required; this is a complete screening by a dermatologist in a private room.
