Augusta Health announces special events to commemorate 20th anniversary

augusta-health-headerAugusta Health will celebrate its 20th anniversary in September, and a month full of community events has been planned.  Events range from free health screenings to educational seminars to a chance to stretch into a new fitness class—yoga!

The signature event is the Augusta Health Foundation’s first fund-raising gala at the former Moss Museum in Waynesboro on September 12, with proceeds benefitting the Augusta Health Cancer Center’s Bridge Fund for patients.  The final event of the month is the grand opening of Augusta Health’s newest facility—the Waynesboro Outpatient Center on Lew Dewitt Boulevard—on September 27.

All events are free, with the exception of the fund-raising gala.  Tickets for the gala are $100 per person and can be reserved by calling the Augusta Health Foundation at 540.332.5174.  A complete list of activities and events includes:

  • Thursday, September 4:  Free Yoga Class; Lifetime Fitness; 12:15 pm and 6:45 pm
  • Saturday, September 6:  Community 5K Walk/Run: Lifetime Fitness; 9 am
  • Monday, September 8:  Free Yoga Class; Lifetime Fitness; 9 am and 12 noon
  • The noon class will be followed by a “Zen Dining” food demonstration
  • Tuesday, September 9: Keep Moving On, a presentation on Joint Replacement and the Augusta Health Joint Center; Augusta Community Care Building: 6-8 pm
  • Wednesday, September 10: Check Your Health for the Next 20 Years!, free screenings—blood pressure, stroke assessment, cholesterol/glucose, osteoporosis and Dermascan; Lifetime Fitness; 3-7 pm
  • Wednesday, September 10: Annual Free Prostate Screening; Augusta Health Cancer Center; beginning at 5:30 pm.  Appointment required, call 540.245.7910
  • Thursday, September 11:  Free Yoga Class; Lifetime Fitness; 12:15 pm and 6:45 pm
  • Friday, September 12:  Augusta Health Foundation Fund-Raising Gala to benefit Augusta Health Cancer Center’s Bridge Fund; Former Moss Museum, Waynesboro; Tickets $100 per person from the Augusta Health Foundation, 540.332.5174

  • Wednesday, September 24: Augusta Health Open House—tours of Heart & Vascular Center with Radiology, Cancer Center, Laboratory, Hyperbaric Chambers, Helicopters and Cafeteria; 3-7 pm
  • Thursday, September 25:  Free Yoga Class; Lifetime Fitness; 12:15 pm and 6:45 pm
  • Saturday, September 27:  Waynesboro Outpatient Center Open House—Urgent Care, Physician Offices, Laboratory and Medical Imaging—a celebration with special activities; 201 Lew Dewitt Boulevard in Waynesboro; 9 am – 12 noon
