Kaufman made a recent appearance on the syndicated daytime talk show “Katie” to talk about his innovative Books Behind Bars program, which brings together incarcerated youth and university students and transforms both groups through the power of conversation about great Russian literature.

Kaufman is an internationally recognized Tolstoy scholar, who has lectured at the National Endowment for the Arts, the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and at the Leo Tolstoy Museum and Estate at Yasnaya Polyana.
