court square theatreArts Council of the Valley’s Court Square Theater will host show-stopping bluegrass band Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out on Thursday, March 22nd in anther spectacular Court Square Theater Music Series concert.

Raised in Pasadena, Texas, group founder Russell Moore has been a long-time fan of country music. After initially joining bluegrass bands Southern Connection and Quicksilver, Moore finally created his own group in 1991 with bandmates Mike Hartgrove and Ray Deaton. Named IIIrd Tyme Out – a reference to the number of professional bands they’d previously been in – the trio landed immediate success, releasing three albums in four years to critical acclaim. As Moore’s prominence in the group increased, so did their success, eventually leading Moore’s name to headline the band.
Now, the Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out lineup includes Wayne Benson (mandolin), Keith McKinnon (banjo), Jerry Cole (bass), Nathan Aldridge (fiddle), and Moore on guitar. To date, the group has landed a Billboard Top 5 Best-Selling Bluegrass Album, a 2016 IBMA Nomination for Album of the Year, and a #1 album on the National Bluegrass Survey’s Top 15 Albums chart, among other accolades. Still, they’re not intending to slow down, with Moore noting, “All the awards, all the recognition, those things are just by-products of doing what we love to do.”

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will perform at Arts Council of the Valley’s Court Square Theater on Thursday, March 22nd. Doors open at 6:00 PM with the show beginning at 7:00 PM.
