#25 JMU romps past #14 Richmond, 55-20

jmu logoTaylor Reynolds returned two interceptions for touchdowns, and Vad Lee threw for 433 yards to fuel a monster day for the JMU offense, as the 25th-ranked Dukes won their sixth straight, defeating #14 Richmond, 55-20, on Saturday.

JMU (8-3, 5-2 CAA) rolled up 526 total yards, with Lee completing 27 of his 37 pass attempts and two touchdowns. The Dukes D forced five Richmond turnovers, four of them involving Reynolds, including the two pick-sixes and two other fumbles that Reynolds forced after big ur offensive plays.

Madison led 31-20 at the half, and it was 34-20 after a Ryan Maglio 35-yard field goal early in the third when the second interception TD by Reynolds broke the game open. Richmond quarterback Michael Strauss, under pressure, was intercepted in the right flat by Reynolds, who returned that pass 46 yards for a score that pushed the lead to 41-20.

Reynolds’ other touchdown came on a 55-yard interception return in the first quarter that gave JMU a 14-0 lead.

Strauss threw three touchdown passes for Richmond (7-4, 4-3 CAA), which has now lost two straight.
