Help JMU knockout a world record
Fans attending James Madison’s home men’s basketball game on Wednesday night against William and Mary at 7 p.m. will have the opportunity to be part of a Guinness World Record.
JMU’s Athletics Marketing staff plans to host the world’s largest game of basketball knockout. Following the game all fans of any age in attendance will be invited to the court to participate. The game is not limited to only college students. The winner will receive an iPod Nano. JMU head coach Matt Brady will be among the official witnesses to the event.
The current Guinness World Record is 167 participants in a game hosted by George Washington University on October 11, 2010. The game lasted approximately 90 minutes.
For anyone unfamiliar with the game, participants form a line at the free throw line. The first player attempts a free throw. If made, the player goes to the back of the line. If missed, the player must rebound the shot and make a shot from anywhere before the next person in line makes their free throw or subsequent shot. If player two makes their shot first, player one is “knocked out” of the game. Play continues until one person remains.
Fans are also invited to RSVP to attend the game at JMU’s Facebook event page.
