Staunton: Back to the drawing board for conservatives
Special Report by Chris Graham

Two years ago, the Staunton May elections saw conservative Dickie Bell elected for a fourth term, Amdrea Oakes, fresh off her work with a community group that had raised a fuss over the opening of a porn shop, elected for a first, and musician Bob Campbell outpoll incumbent Dave Metz in two of the city’s five voting wards and nearly do the same in a third while falling just short of being added to City Council. Column by Tony Panaccio

That’s why I wish there was a hypocrites season, so we’d be able to anticipate their yammering, and be able to take an Advil in advance to prevent the headaches these idiots cause. Read more

Bob Bennett from the upcoming Senate Republican primary, and how it seems to me that the Tea Party is running the risk of making itself and the Republican Party electorally irrelevant by demanding strict ultraconservtive ideological purity. There’s nothing new dealing with teens that think they know it all, but recently I’ve found that my 13-year-old is making me crazy with his attitude. I’ve got another teen at home – his 16-year-old brother, so I do have some experience living with a teen, but it doesn’t get any easier! Read more

In the early days of our republic, President Andrew Jackson established an important principle of American-style democracy – that we should measure the health of our society not at its apex, but at its base. That focus has been lost, as many on Wall Street have accumulated vast wealth while the middle class falls steadily behind.
