Update from the National Weather Service, 2:51 p.m. Tuesday: The Winter Storm Warning is still in effect for Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro, but the snow accumulations are expected to be less than had originally been forecast.

The region is now in line for 3 to 6 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to overspread the region late this afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected tonight.

Watch out for the winds. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph are in the forecast, with gusts up to 45 mph.
