Postponement and cancellation notices are pouring in as the snow pours down on Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro associated with the powerful winter storm making its way up the East Coast this weekend.

A performance of Dr. Levine and the Dreaded Blues Lady scheduled for the Waynesboro Public Library on Friday night has been canceled. No makeup date has been announced.
The Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra has canceled its scheduled Saturday and Sunday concerts. The concert program will be performed at regularly-scheduled concerts on April 17 and April 18.
A Saturday booksigning at Bookworks in Downtown Staunton for author Bruce Bytnar has been postponed. A makeup date for the booksigning has not yet been set.
A Valentine Dessert Theatre sponsored by the Wayne Theatre Alliance scheduled for the weekend of Feb. 13-14 has been canceled due to the impact of multiple winter storms in the area.
James Madison University’s men’s basketball game at Towson scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled to Monday night at 7 p.m.
A slew of athletics events at Eastern Mennonite University have been moved.
The women’s basketball game between Eastern Mennonite and Emory & Henry scheduled for Friday night moved ahead one day to Thursday night. Saturday’s game at Guilford is tentatively rescheduled to the following day – Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. A final decision for that contest will be made today.
The men’s basketball team’s home game scheduled for Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan will be played instead on Monday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m.
A home men’s volleyball match on the 15th against Stevenson will be moved because of the change, although no time or date has been set for that contest. The men’s volleyball team’s tri-match with Philadelphia Biblical and Lees-McRae this weekend has been postponed.
The match against PBU has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 20, at 4 p.m. No plans for the game with Lees-McRae have been finalized at this time.
The Waynesboro Family YMCA is closing at 1 p.m. today due to inclement weather.
The pool will close at noon.

EMU sports update: Due to the winter weather which is expected to stiffle much of the mid-Atlantic region, Eastern Mennonite has changed the women’s basketball schedule for this weekend.
Saturday’s game at Guilford has now been postponed from this Saturday to next Sunday, Feb. 14. Gametime will be 2:00pm on Valentine’s Day in Greensboro, NC.
EMU’s game at Emory & Henry was moved to Thursday night, with the Royals winning 74-54. The women are currently 13-5 overall and 9-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. They are in a three-way tie for third place in the league standings.
The Jaimie Goodwin Dance Workshop at Kate Collins Middle School in Waynesboro scheduled for this weekend has officially been postponed.
The workshop was being put on by Old Dominion Performance Arts Studio in Waynesboro.
The workshop has been tentatively rescheduled for May 22-23.
EMU sports update: Due to the winter weather which is expected to stiffle much of the mid-Atlantic region, Eastern Mennonite has changed the women’s basketball schedule for this weekend, which also affects next weekend’s slate.
Saturday’s game at Guilford has now been postponed from this Saturday to next Sunday, Feb. 14. Gametime will be 2:00pm on Valentine’s Day in Greensboro, NC. Because of playing that day, the Royals game at home against Hollins on Saturday, Feb. 13, will also be moved up two hours to a 5:00pm start time.
From the Waynesboro YMCA: The Waynesboro Family YMCA will be closed Saturday.
We’ll try to get the parking lot cleared for a Sunday opening but we’ll have to wait and see what the roads look like as well. Enjoy time with your loved ones and family!

UVa.-Wake Forest game to go on as scheduled: The Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball game between Wake Forest and Virginia will be played as scheduled at John Paul Jones Arena on Saturday (Feb. 6). The game is scheduled to begin at noon and will be televised by Raycom.
ACC protocol indicates games should be played if both teams and two of the three game officials have arrived at the site. The Wake Forest team is in Charlottesville as are the three game officials.
“We are following ACC protocol and Saturday’s game will be played,” said Virginia Athletics Director Craig Littlepage. “Fans should make certain they can get safely to the game before making the decision to attend in these weather conditions. We encourage fans having to travel by car to stay at home and watch the game on television.”
Reserved garage parking passes will be honored in the parking garage at the arena. All other reserved parking pass holders will be asked to park in the West lot. The South, East and Cage parking lots are open to general admission parking for Saturday’s game.
The fan shuttle from the North Grounds parking area will not be in operation on Saturday.
Virginia Tech’s men’s basketball game with Clemson in Blacksburg will also be played as scheduled on Saturday.
Press release from City of Staunton, 3:51 p.m.: Refuse collection originally scheduled for Monday, February 6th, will now be picked up on Wednesday February 10th.
Recyclables will also be picked up at this same time.

Update from the Waynesboro Family YMCA: The Y will be open regular hours on Sunday, Feb. 7 from 1- 7 p.m. There will be no basketball games, however.
