The annual all-star concert includes Robin & Linda Williams, Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, Bill Kirchen and others paying tribute to a lost troubadour. Each musician brings talent and a love for country music that will set your hands a clapping and your feet a stomping. Everyone is invited to come out for this night of nostalgia and merriment. With Christmas only four days prior, continue the family festivities down at Court Square Theater with these lively and gifted performers.
Robin & Linda Williams bring their comfortable, heart-warming, and pure style to downtown Harrisonburg. Stephen Holden of The New York Times celebrates how “vocally and instrumentally, the Williamses combine impeccable musical discipline with a bare simplicity and an utter lack of pretension.” In 1975, the Williames not only debuted on “A Prairie Home Companion,” but also released their first album. Since then they have appeared on and in “Austin City Limits” (PBS), “Nashville Now” (TNN), The Grand Ole Opry (WSM), “All Things Considered” (NPR), and “Mountain Stage” (PRI).
Also here to honor Hank Williams Sr. will be two-time Grammy winners, Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer fusing their background of traditional and contemporary folk with swing and old-time country. Tom Paxton says, “Cathy and Marcy are at home in a dozen musical styles. They swing you, jazz you, and old timey you till you just give up and bliss out.” There’s no need to unwrap this gift, just pile the family in the automobile and pop in to celebrate the sounds of yesteryear.
