Winter Storm Watch in effect beginning Friday evening

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Central Shenandoah Valley beginning Friday evening and running through late Saturday night.

The watch includes a forecast for potential heavy snow with accumulations greater than 5 inches possible. Snow is expected to reach the Central Shenandoah Valley Friday evening and continue through the day Saturday.

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s with winds at 10-15 mph throughout the event.

  1. That much snow won’t stop a locomotive, but the folks from the Augusta County RR Museum in Waynesboro have to drive automobiles to get there, so we’re calling off our open house Saturday. If the roads are clear we’ll have the model trains running Sunday afternoon 1-4 and this Friday evening 5-8 for Christmas in the River City.
