The United Way of Greater Augusta is about a quarter of the way to its $750,000 campaign goal for 2009.

“The United Way is still a long way from obtaining the goal set for this year,” said Mary Louise Leake, the ’09 campaign director.

It’s logical that the fundraising is struggling as the economy continues to struggle, but at the same time the pressures on the nearly two dozen agencies that are community partners of the local United Way are ratcheting up in a similarly logical way.

There is still time for people to contribute to the 2009 United Way campaign. Check with your employer for a campaign contribution form or use the one that was sent out in the Smart Media advertising pack to every household in Greater Augusta.

Contributions can also be made online at www.unitedwayga.org.
