Lewis’ 16 helps EMU women to school-best start

Stuarts Draft High School grad Melissa Lewis scored 16 points to help Eastern Mennonite win at Averett by an 82-74 final.

The win pushes EMU to a school-record-tying 7-0 start.

Second-half defense was the key to the win for the Royals, who trailed 52-42 at halftime. EMU held the Cougars to 25 percent shooting in the second half.

Danielle Scott led Eastern Mennonite with 26 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the field.
