Women who make false rape accusations should be prosecuted and given stiff sentences. Too often they are given a pass. And newspapers should name both the accused AND the accuser.

Chris,
you're talking about school and distribution of students... I would like you look into how Asheville NC does their student distrubition. A couple friends of mine are teachers there, and he briefly described to me how they do it and it seems really cool. Rather than drawing geographic lines as to who goes where (because they found that meant there were 'poor populations' grouped into one school)... they now do an enrollment based on student / family interests...

Each public school has a 'theme' (science/music/math/language...) and the parents choose their top 3 schools based on what theme 'fits' their kid, and then they somehow figure it out where each child, regardless of demographics, gets in one of the top 3 choices. Buses work it out somehow.

I think that is so kind and it seems to be working. Maybe our area should think about that type of involvement.

thanks,
michelle
