At least the floats will be on display, thanks to Waynesboro Downtown Development Inc., which is organizing an exhibit of floats that were to have been in the canceled Dec. 5 Waynesboro Christmas Parade.

The exhibit will be part of the two-day Christmas in the River City event scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19. The display will be set up in the parking lot at Constitution Park the night of Friday, Dec. 18, WDDI events coordinator Rick Moyer said.

“Like everybody else, we’ve heard, we’ve read, we’ve seen that a lot of people were very upset about the whole thing. So it came down to, How can we work something out to get the community out and thinking that their efforts weren’t in vain? This is the solution we’ve come up with,” Moyer said.

WDDI staff is contacting people who had registered to have floats in the parade.

Having the floats displayed at the River City is a great way to show off the float
participates hard work and effort, however it still isn’t the same as watching a parade. I as a resident of waynesboro and I am very disappointed in the decision of not rescheduling.

Too bad the River City folks couldn’t have a mini-parade downtown … maybe they can’t close off thes streets but it would also bring a ton of people downtown for the River City event.
