ShenanArts will be hosting a session of The Virginia Junior Opry at its Stage4 Theatre, on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010.

The show will begin at 3 p.m., and proceeds will go to benefit ShenanArts’ re-location fund.

The Virginia Junior Opry was formed in the early ’90s, by Staunton native, Bob Campbell, to provide a forum to showcase young talent throughout the state in a drug- and alcohol-free environment. The show is headquartered in Clifton Forge.

Campbell will serve as the host for the event and will be assisted by Jeff McDaniel, a regular with ShenanArts, in producing what is promised to be an evening of top-notch entertainment.

Organizers of the event are currently looking for talent to perform. Singers, musicians, bluegrass and gospel groups, clogging and square-dance groups and others are encouraged to participate. Participants should be under 21 years of age. The variety show will feature country, bluegrass, gospel, rockabilly and Southern rock.

Other styles of music will be considered by audition.

Interested parties should contact Jeff McDaniel at 540.220.1449 (after 5 p.m.) or e-mail at jwmdmusic@gmail.com.
