(10:00 p.m.) The snow has stopped and road conditions are improving in the Shenandoah Valley. Many roads are clear or in minor condition. Motorists should watch for icy patches and black ice as temperatures dip below freezing during the nighttime hours.
Here are the late night road conditions:
Interstate 64, 66 and 81 – Clear conditions except for minor conditions on I-64 in Augusta County. Watch for slush and icy patches.
Primary roads –Minor conditions are in Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
Secondary roads – Moderate conditions are in Bath, Highland, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Clarke and Warren counties. Minor conditions are reported in Alleghany, Rockbridge, Augusta, and Rockingham counties.
Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro cities are reporting minor conditions.
Motorists are reminded that ice and freezing rain conditions can still produce hazardous driving conditions, even when roads are treated. People should not drive unless absolutely necessary. People who are driving in winter road conditions should use extra caution particularly on bridges, overpasses, curves, hills and ramps.
