An 18-5-2 first-half run, capped by a Danielle Rittenhouse (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) three-pointer, gave EMU a 44-33 halftime lead.
Danielle Scott (Summit, NJ/Summit) was a wrecking ball inside for EMU, scoring a game high 23 points. Rittenhouse finished with 16 points. Point guard Melissa Lewis (Stuarts Draft, Va./Stuarts Draft) helped seal the win by hitting 12 of 14 free throws. The senior tallied 16 points.
Sara Lamneck (Swoope, Va./Buffalo Gap) grabbed a game high nine rebounds, and Miranda Wolfe (Verona, Va./Fort Defiance) added six boards.
The win keeps the Royals perfect at 6-0 and 3-0 in the ODAC. EMU’s best start to a season came in 2003-04 when they started 7-0. The team finished 25-4 that year with the program’s only trip to the NCAA Tournament.
