Begin the Holiday season with a tour of some of Waynesboro’s oldest and newest homes. Wayne Theatre Alliance has organized a one-day tour of a variety of homes and inns decorated for Christmas. The tour begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, and continues to 4 p.m.
The Christmas Home Tour represents the broad range of residential areas in Waynesboro, from the Tree Streets area to Chinquapin and the Pelham neighborhoods.
The Old Stone House on the South River is one of the most historic buildings in the Valley. Its current owners decorate in a style that recalls the Christmases of 250 years ago when the house was young and the neighborhood wild. The newest home is in the Pelham area. Built by Bramante Homes, the Carey-Mannix House will be decorated by local artist Brecken Gelman. Included in the tour is the unique Neo-Regency renovation of the Walker House with its blend of Western and Eastern influences.
Although all the homes will be decorated for the season, two will boast special holiday collections. The Shiflet home in Chinquapin will display the owners’ extensive collection of nativities. The Howlett home in Pelham will incorporate the family’s primitive Santa collection in the home’s Williamsburg décor.
Tickets for the tour are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the tour. Tickets are available at the WTA office at 533 West Main Street or at the Waynesboro Heritage Museum.
