The United Way of Greater Augusta is teaming up with Smart Media on a public-awareness effort aimed at getting attention for the annual United Way campaign.

The Smart Media advertising mailer for December will feature information on the United Way campaign. The mailer will be in mailboxes beginning Tuesday, Dec. 1.

“This is a great way to reach those individuals who would not necessarily have the opportunity to become a part of our campaign through their work place,” stated Mary Louise Leake, United Way of Greater Augusta campaign director.

“This is exciting; it is not often that a campaign can reach that many people all at once,” Leake said.

The United Way of Greater Augusta holds a workplace campaign each year to gather in funds for area nonprofits and programs that serve the community. This year’s campaign goal is $750,000 to be gathered in by the end of December. Disbursement of funds will begin in mid-April.
