The day is here, and ACCVirginia.com will be live in Scott Stadium in Charlottesville for the annual in-state rivalry game between the University of Virginia Cavaliers and the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. The game is being broadcast on ABC-TV.

Remember last year. We led at halftime, which forced me to make a call between being late for the JMU playoff game or staying and watching us blow the Tech game in the second half. I of course chose to be late to the JMU game, and we of course blew the Tech game in the second half.

It’s embarrassing that we can’t keep out the rif raf. UVA Sports Leadership did this to us when they offered the ACC package of three ACC games including VA Tech. Try to make money and embarrass your home team.

Apparently, the coaching staff (seated next to me) thinks Sewell should have been able to read the safety blitz on second down. I don’t disagree. Everybody on the field except for Sewell and our receivers seemed to be aware that Tech was sending the entire house.

This is typical. We’ve given them two short fields, and they’ve converted them. Credit to Tech, it’s efficient football. You don’t need to move the ball up and down the field, but you do need to convert when you get the chance. And they create chances for themselves.

Groh hasn’t resigned yet. But his wife and daughter were in the media room afterward, and all were in tears when Al read a poem at the end of the press conference about the man in the mirror.

Al read a poem … wow. I wouldn’t have expected that. Even if he couldn’t win football games, I’ve been told he is a nice guy and I’m sure even he is disappointed he couldn’t produce more results.

Michael Jackson? Ahh, what a nice way to go out, memorializing a gifted but flawed entertainer.
No, seriously, does Groh really think that he should be proud of the way that he’s coached? He is still going to pocket $4 million over the next two years because his teams had gotten progressively worse and he needed to be fired, right? Shouldn’t someone who makes a point of praising his own integrity after a 42-13 loss refuse to accept that money from his alma mater during a dismal budget situation?
