Live Blog | The sufferings of a ‘Hoo

Column by Chris Graham

Join ACCVirginia.com editor and 1994 University of Virginia alum Chris Graham this week in “The sufferings of a ‘Hoo,” a live blog being done in advance of the Saturday football clash between UVa. and in-state rival Virginia Tech.

Chris will be posting into the comments associated with the Live Blog his thoughts heading into the game.

(Beware Al Groh, Craig Littlepage, John Casteen III, the people who rented the plane that flew over the Gator Bowl a couple of years ago, and others.)

The early line-Tech by 13. My suggestion: Invest heavily in the Hokies.

Seriously, think about that line. The oddsmakers are giving Tech 13 points on the road.

Check that. Scott Stadium is going to be Blacksburg North on Saturday. The 20,000 or so empty seats we’ve been seeing week after week are going to magically be filled with people wearing god-awful orange and maroon.

So maybe the line should be Tech +16.5. They usually give the home team three and a half.

I began dating Crystal, my wife and a Tech alum, in 1999. The ’09 game will be our 11th as a couple. UVa. has won one game since we met.

Al Groh – dude, you owe me one.

I will be at the game in the press box blogging live during the game and eagerly awaiting the start of Al Groh’s final postgame press conference as the UVa. coach after.

My beautiful bride will be at home watching on TV. My cell phone will be turned off beginning late in the first quarter.

I share your pain. Thankfully, I’m married to an ODU alum–their football team doesn’t play ours. This year, if they had, they probably would have beaten us easily…

  5. chrisgraham says:

That ODU program is going to be good and for a long time good.

I look forward to Crystal’s comments on your live blog.
At least the 1998 win was pretty good. It’s had to cover many years of bad memories.

I can’t even win for, er, winning. I’m wearing my Matt Schaub jersey watching Monday Night Football. Schaub throws a TD pass, which is cause for celebration, right? He threw it to Steve Slaton. Who plays for Crystal’s fantasy team. Which is matched up with my fantasy team this week. I now lead her by 15 points.

    I hate Tech.
