Staunton Performing Arts Center presents ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Staff Report

A live performance of the Disney production of Beauty and the Beast is coming to Staunton, presented by the Staunton Performing Arts Center, the group that will restore and renovate the Dixie Theatre and the adjoining Arcadia Building into a two-venue performing arts center. In order to give the community a taste of what will be possible in the new venues, Staunton’s own “American Idol,” Colton Berry, is collaborating with them by producing and appearing in the full production of this spectacular Broadway musical.

The shows will be on Thursday through Saturday evenings, Nov. 19-21, at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday afternoons, Nov. 21 and 22, at 3 at the Octagonal Barn of the Frontier Culture Museum. Also appearing with Colton will be local talents Andrea Saunders, Barbara Spilman Lawson, Bob Wright, Bill Martin, and Hank Fitzgerald.

Judy Mosedale, executive director of the Staunton Performing Arts Center, is elated about this project. “We are so fortunate to have Colton Berry back in Staunton using his creative genius to produce this show. He has designed the costumes, the set, the staging, and has assembled a fabulous cast. This production is sure to be a magical experience for the holiday season!” said Mosedale.

Tickets are available online at the Staunton Performing Arts Center website at www.stauntonperformingarts.org or by calling 540-885-3211.
