TSSI announces staff additions


Tactical & Survival Specialties Inc. has announced the addition of several new managers to its staff.
Harrisonburg-based TSSI is a multi-functional, team oriented corporation dedicated to the logistic support of military, law enforcement, and disaster response professionals worldwide. TSSI is recognized as a leader in providing tactical and operational support equipment as well as product training. 

The additions:

- Harry McPherson – Merchandising Director
Harry McPherson has recently joined TSSI filling the newly created position of director of merchandising and marketing. In this role, Harry will be in charge of supporting the company’s financial goals through assortment planning, new product development and vendor relations. In addition, he will work closely with the TSSI Sales Division on key item focus and new product introductions.
Prior to joining TSSI, Harry held senior merchandising and product manager positions at L.L.Bean, most recently as retail merchandise manager. Previously he was merchandise director and director of merchandising at Eastern Mountain Sports and vice president of sales and marketing for Caribou Mountaineering. In 2008 he founded McPherson p.w.i., a consulting firm specializing in product design and development, sourcing, marketing solutions and idea generation.

- Roy Norville – Human Resources Manager
Roy Norville has joined the TSSI Team as the human resources manager. Roy will lead the company’s human resources efforts as we continue to grow our human capital. TSSI is dedicated to providing unsurpassed customer solutions and services and this holds true for its staff. Roy will take leadership responsibility for all human resources functions, internal and external employee and local communication efforts as well as the company’s charitable activities.
Prior to joining TSSI, Roy served as employment manager and deputy HR manager for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and HR manager for Overhead Door Corporation’s, Genie Electronics Division, both institutions located in Virginia. Roy holds the Senior Professional of Human Resources designation with the Society of Human Resources Management.

- Vonda Johnston – Purchasing Manager
Vonda Johnston has joined the TSSI team as the purchasing manager. In this role Vonda will focus on the supply chain. TSSI is committed to finding the right product, at the right price, to exceed our customer’s expectations. Vonda will lead her team in strategic procurement and inventory management.
Vonda has over twelve years of law enforcement and military experience at Galls in purchasing and as an assistant merchandise director. Most recently Vonda has been in procurement for an industrial JIT manufacturer.
“I am excited to be joining TSSI and becoming a part of a challenging and growing company,” said Johnston. “There is so much satisfaction in knowing that in your own way you are keeping our troops safe and well outfitted with quality products that protects them as they perform their critical work. I am looking forward to applying my experience to help the company meet its goals and meet our military and tactical forces needs.”
