Leslie Byrne | In support of Jody Wagner
Four years ago, I squared off with Bill Bolling to become Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor. After running one of the most negative campaigns in recent memory, Bill edged us by less than 25,000 votes – less than 1 percent of the total votes cast. I’m writing to you today because we simply cannot let that happen again.
This year, Jody Wagner is standing up to Bill Bolling. Jody is a friend, and a dedicated Democrat. For most of the past eight years, she’s served the Commonwealth as Treasurer and Secretary of Finance, working hand in hand with Mark Warner and Tim Kaine to turn Virginia around and keep it moving forward. She’s focused on creating new jobs, growing the economy, and improving education. With Jody on the leadership team, Virginia has won best-managed state twice and been named the best state for a child’s lifetime success.
This election could be just as close as ours four years ago – and the way we make it turn out differently is to pull together and give Jody a hand. Display a free bumper sticker that you can get here; join Women for Wagner here; sign up to volunteer here; or make a contribution of as little as $5 here.
Bill Bolling has literally been a no-show lieutenant goveror. For example, Virginia has a bipartisan revenue-estimating process that is one of the reasons why Virginia has been named best-managed state twice in a row. The Lt. Governor, invited to every meeting, has skipped them all. Instead, he plays armchair quarterback, criticizing the same process that he should have participated in.
Unlike Bill Bolling, Jody Wagner has shown up in good times and bad – she hasn’t backed down from our Commonwealth’s challenges, and she’s not going to stop fighting for Virginia and for all our families.
Please join Jody Wagner’s campaign today by requesting a free bumper sticker, joining Women for Wagner, signing up to volunteer, or making a contribution of as little as $5. Please help today – this victory is in our grasp along as we work together.
Leslie Byrne was the 2005 Democratic Party nominee for lieutenant governor and is a former Virginia state senator and U.S congresswoman.
