Thanks so much for your report Chris. I wasn't able to attend the event, so this was a valuable video record.

I'd have to say that this was one of the most incredible moments in my life. It was a true honor to meet these men. I'll remember the past two days for the rest of my life. Thank you to Jim and Kim, but especially to the veterans.

And thanks to Jim for arranging the trip and making it possible for those of us who were able to learn from them to do so. I feel truly blessed to have been able to meet and talk with these incredible men. It is one of the highlights of my life.

What an outstanding video record and report. You certainly captured the message these men traveled from Texas, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina and New Jersey to deliver. I want to thank the Augusta Free Press for showing these men the greatest respect while asking probing questions and drawing from them comments and memories that deserve to be preserved. They had nothing but praise for all the nice people they encountered while here in the Shenandoah Valley. We'd like to thank the Plumb House/Heritage Museum, The West Augusta Guard, Waynesboro City Manager Mike Hamp & staff, Webber Payne & the Waynesboro Florist, Fishburne Military School, Shelby Jones Alexander and Sweet Willaims in Fishersville, The Stonewall Jackson Hotel staff, Richard Adams & Jack Brown for playing taps, the JMU Swing Dance Club, Sandi Belcher for her beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, Kim Nielsen of Seattle for her riveting audio/video program, and especially Blue Ridge Community College and all the people of Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley who made this event possible and a success. And of course, I would like to thank LD Cox, Ed Harrell, Sam Lopez, and FJ Outland of the USS Indianapolis, and Peter Wren & Bill Van Wilpe of the USS Bassett, for taking the time and enduring the hardships at their age to travel to our venue and help make us more aware of the sacrifices and memories of their lost-at-sea shipmates.
