WMHS presents Cinderella
Wilson Memorial High School’s Singing Sergeants present the Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic musical story of Cinderella in the school auditorium on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
The adaptation of the classic fairy tale includes such memorable songs as “Ten Minutes Ago,” “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” and many more.
Bethanie Glover brings Cinderella’s dreams of attending the Royal Ball given to honor Prince Charming, Dustin Roadcap, to life in the school production. The King, Sam Bowman, and the Queen, Alexa McDorman, have planned a special night to celebrate their son’s birthday and secretly hope that he might find his match in one of the lovely ladies attending the Royal Ball.
The townspeople, Emily Beam, Elizabeth Godsey, Rebecca Hopewell, Jackie Kania, Hayley Rankin, Chris Rodriguez and Jacob Slaght, are all abuzz with excitement as the Herald, Aaron Smith, announces that, “The Prince is giving a ball.”
Cinderella longs to leave her sad life as a servant girl where she must answer to every wish and whim of her Stepmother, Genevieve Bowles, and her two demanding stepsisters, Joy, Katie Hock, and Portia, Jessica Arbogast. Cinderella’s dreams become reality when her Fairy Godmother, Bri Pursley, arrives to help Cinderella with a bit of “Fol-de-rol and fiddled dee”and makes the impossible possible.
What follows is a captivating evening with a magical pumpkin carriage, a Footman, Michael Barnes, a beautiful mystery woman, love at first sight, a promise to leave by midnight, a lost glass slipper, a search for the dainty foot that will fit the glass slipper, and the discovery of the woman who makes Prince Charming’s heart skip a beat.
