Ogletree going pro
A curious move, to say the least – that’s UVa. wide receiver Kevin Ogletree announcing that he will forego his final year of college eligibility to enter the NFL draft.
Ogletree, who graduated with a degree in sociology in December, had one year of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2007 with a knee injury suffered in the preseason that year. He led the Cavs in catches as a sophomore in 2006 with 52 and again in 2008 with 58.
He caught 117 balls for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns in three seasons in Charlottesville.
“Kevin has been a significant part of our team,” head coach Al Groh said in a statement released by the university. “He was a strong performer and an excellent teammate. Kevin received his degree in December and feels this is the appropriate time for him to move on. We agree and support him in his decision and wish him much success,” Groh said.
