Score update from the early game – BC 82, UNC 76, 1 minute to go

I wrote this week – http://augustafreepress.com/2008/12/30/an-acc-whitewash-for-carolina/ – that UNC was not going to run the table in the ACC. I can’t claim that I thought it would be BC that knocked them off, and also that the unbeaten run would end in their opener.

    BC 82-78, 46.7 to go

BC is going to win this one

Duke 11-2 at first media timeout
Typical start to a game in Cameron – they come out and dominate the first six or seven minutes and get their crowd into it, and challenge you to just stay in the game

  6. chrisgraham says:

Interesting – they’re calling handchecks on VT 25 feet from the hoop. Call them on the other end, and this one could be a slugfest.

There is no incidental contact in basketball. If there is contact, and as a result of contact someone gains an advantage, it is a foul.

  9. chrisgraham says:

That T is ridiculous. How about calling a foul on the Duke kid for bodying Thompson on the way to the rim?

  10. chrisgraham says:

Wow. Duke is called for a block. Happens what, every 10 years or so?

  11. chrisgraham says:

By calling that a charge, the official is saying that the Duke kid sliding into position as Vassallo floats through the lane has more of a right to that space than Vassallo. Which is incorrect. They both have a right to the space.

  12. chrisgraham says:

    Duke 34-21, under-5

  13. chrisgraham says:

    Mini-run – VT now down 7, 36-29

  14. chrisgraham says:

    Half – Duke 39, VT 31
Nice comeback from that horrid start

  15. chrisgraham says:

Early VT run cuts lead to four, but Duke now back up 48-37 and seemingly in cruise control

  16. chrisgraham says:

    Duke 53-39, 10:52/2nd
    14-4 Duke run

  17. chrisgraham says:

    Duke 64-42 – 25-7 run
    This one is over.
    G’night!

    Final – Duke 69, Virginia Tech 44
I had never seen a team score 13 points in a half. Woeful.
