So how many tickets did that wonderful, great travelin’ Vick Tech wind up returning?

  2. scott on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 7:33 pm

A four-loss Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl! Please give us a playoff.

  3. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:18 pm

And the ACC is doing so well in the bowls this year. Wow. Could the conference be any more overrated?

  4. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:33 pm

Is that Enrico Palazzo on the horn?

  5. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:35 pm

Is that the Queen behind the Tech bench?

  6. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:36 pm

Check that – Charles Steger behind the Tech bench. But I think that was Palazzo on the horn.

  7. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:36 pm

Tech by 14. You heard it here first. Come on, Chris. What’s your pick?

  8. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:41 pm

Hmm … I have not seen Cincy play, aside from two unimpressive quarters against Hawaii a few weeks ago. Tech by four.

  9. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:43 pm

Question: Is Al Groh watching the game? You know, to get some pointers?

  10. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:47 pm

What could he possibly pick up from Beamer? How to coach in a big game? He has to get to a big game first. And no, back-to-back Tire Bowls aren’t big games.

  11. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:48 pm

The Cincy cheerleaders are … not missing many meals.

  12. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:51 pm

Maybe Hawaii isn’t as bad as I thought. Which would mean Notre Dame wouldn’t be as bad I’d thought. Um …

  13. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:51 pm

    That was a TD. Clearly.

  14. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:52 pm

The Cincy cheerleaders are … not missing many meals.

    SOLID!!!!!!! LOL!!!!

  15. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:52 pm

No, Notre Dame was that bad.

  16. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:53 pm

Cincy cheerleaders in the six-sided octagon – indomitable. No question they make the Tech cheerleaders tap. Even the guys.

I don’t care what the thought it behind it … I would never defer to the second half. I would always take the ball first. There’s something to be said about scoring first.

  18. crystalabbegraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 8:57 pm

Umm … this could be a high-scoring game.

  19. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:00 pm

Danny Coale is from Lexington, but not from RCHS. He played at Episcopal, according to the Tech website. Never heard of Episcopal.

  20. crystalabbegraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:00 pm

    Frank looks mad.

  21. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:01 pm

Keys missed a chippie against UVa. in the regular-season finale, too.

  22. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:02 pm

I require munchies. Back in a sec …

  23. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:09 pm

Terry Bowden to D2 North Alabama? WTF?!

  24. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:12 pm

I set the over/under on mentions of former TA great Nick Marshman being “ineligible” at 15. We’re at three now.

  25. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:14 pm

Have they mentioned yet that he only needed to pass six hours to remain eligible, and somehow didn’t manage to do that? And that the guy is a senior?

  26. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:17 pm

I hit golf shots like that. At least nobody is watching me.

  27. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:23 pm

Hmmm … if Mr. Taylor suddenly takes an interest in dog fighting or flashing guns at local McDonald’s, he may have a future as a VT quarterback ahead of him.

    He’s not looking bad.

  28. Scott M on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:26 pm

“Have they mentioned yet that he only needed to pass six hours to remain eligible, and somehow didn’t manage to do that?”

My guess is that no one told him that a C gets you kicked out of grad school.

  29. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:29 pm

He needs to do something different. Maybe tip over a vending machine or something. He’s the best of both Vicks – the feet of Michael and the arm of Marcus.

  30. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:32 pm

Not actually in grad school. According to the News and Advance …

Marshman, a two-year starter and All-ACC honorable mention selection this season, had already received a bachelor’s degree in apparel, housing and resource management and was seeking a second undergraduate degree in hospitality and tourism management.

Beamer said he didn’t pass the required six hours this semester to remain eligible.

“You’re talking about a guy that’s graduated, who’s never really been to the point of an issue in terms of eligibility or those types of things. To get to this point, you don’t know what occurs,” Hokies offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring said.

  31. crystalabbegraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:32 pm

Boy, you guys are tough on Tech … I need some VT fans on here. Anyone????

  32. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:33 pm

Brock and I agreed that Taylor is good. How is that being tough on Tech?

  33. scott on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:34 pm

For those interested there’s a King-Kong Movie on AMC

  34. crystalabbegraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:35 pm

Too many comments about the Vicks – move on. And too much talk about UVA. Umm … they didn’t get in a bowl game. This is a Tech-Cincy live blog, isn’t it?

  35. crystalabbegraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:35 pm

My turn to get munchies … have at it.

  36. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:36 pm

I also noticed a “Planet of the Apes” marathon on Action.

  37. scott on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:38 pm

Planet of the apes-King Kong, VT-Cincy decisions decisions.

  38. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:40 pm

Boy, the Tech grad here has rabbit ears. We’ve been insulting the hell out of Virginia here, but that’s not good enough. And it was OK to yammer on and on about the Vicks for years when they were winning games for them, but they kill dogs and molest 15-year-olds, and all the sudden they’re persona non grata. Don’t cross a Hokie, man. And don’t go anywhere near a bus around one. You will end up under it.

  39. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:52 pm

Cincy now has one dimension on offense. They’re not even trying to run.

  40. crystalabbegraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:57 pm

Glad to see you back on the game.

  41. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 9:58 pm

Should have been an INT. Not bad for Tech that it wasn’t. Well, as I was typing that, it became bad for Tech that it wasn’t.

  42. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:02 pm

    Not much doin’ in this game. It has gotten … s … l … o … w …

  43. crystalabbegraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:03 pm

Yes. And we thought it would be a high-scoring game based on the first possession. We were wrong.

  44. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:11 pm

The mistakes made by the two QBs tells me something. The fact that these two teams are in this game is more a reflection of how weak their respective conferences are than it is a reflection of how good these teams are. No offense to these teams.

  45. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:15 pm

The Doobie Brothers? I saw them on a repeat of “What’s Happening” the other day.

  46. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:19 pm

Halftime – bring on the Ganja Geezers!

  47. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:22 pm

Hey, I though this was a family blog.

  48. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:22 pm

Didn’t you major in the same stuff Marshman did, Chris?

  49. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:23 pm

    I miss “What’s Happening, Now.”

  50. Brock Sampson on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:25 pm

“Smoking Gun” Marathon on TruTV. I loves my Leif Garrett.

  51. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:34 pm

I tried Hospitality and Tourism, but it was too hard. So I can sympathize with Marshman on that.,

  52. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 10:36 pm

Hospitality wasn’t too bad. Tourism, now, tourism was a bee-yach.

  53. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 11:03 pm

Interesting approach from UC on Taylor – blitz him.

  54. chrisgraham on Thu, 1st Jan 2009 11:09 pm

Can you imagine either of these teams playing USC or Oklahoma?
