Saxman, Leighty to host town hall in Staunton
Staunton State Del. Chris Saxman will be cohosting a bipartisan town-hall meeting next week with former Mark Warner and Tim Kaine chief of staff Bill Leighty.
The Dec. 11 meeting, open to the public, will be held at City Hall in Staunton and will begin at 6 p.m.
Saxman, a Republican, and Leighty, a Democrat, worked together on a series of operational reviews through the Cost-Cutting Caucus that Saxman co-chairs in 2007. Saxman and Leighty jointly presented on Virginia’s experience with operational reviews to the American Legislative Exchange Council’s Fiscal Policy Task Force and were also published in ALEC’s magazine.
For their work to examine the operations of state government, Delegate Saxman and Mr. Leighty were jointly presently the annual “Making Government Better” award by the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy in December, 2007.
