Chris Saxman stuck his neck out there last year when he stepped up to the plate to become the Virginia chair of the John McCain campaign at a time when even Republicans were writing the Arizona senator off for dead politically. Now Saxman, a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates and Staunton resident, is getting something of a payback for his faith.
Saxman will make the final motion of the 2008 Republican National Convention tonight, he said in an e-mail this morning. Following McCain’s acceptance speech and then the motion to adjourn the convention, Saxman will make the motion to adjourn the convention sine die.
“It is a great honor and privilege to represent our Virginia delegation and play a small role in this exciting convention. But even more importantly, I can’t wait to get back to the Commonwealth and get back to work to electing Senator McCain as our next President of the United States!” Saxman said today.
