An Augusta County vineyard that will be featured in the Summer 2008 edition of The New Dominion Magazine is now an award-winning Augusta County vineyard.

Barren Ridge Vineyards won a gold medal at the recent Virginia State Fair Wine Competition.

The gold medal was given to the vineyard’s 2007 Viognier.

The vineyards opened to the public in April after producing its first wines last year.

“We have been blessed with such a great team of people to help make this winery a success; winning a gold medal so soon is wonderful,” co-owner Shelby Higgs said.
