The third annual Lime Kiln MusicFest is set for this coming Saturday from 2-10 p.m. at the Theater at Lime Kiln in Lexington.
The MusicFest will open the 25th season at Lime Kiln – and will mark the beginning of a new series called Bands in the Bowl in which the Kiln will feature area musicians.
“We are creating more chances this year for local artists to perform at Lime Kiln and for area audiences to see what talent is right around the corner,” executive director Kim Renz said.
“There never seem to be enough opportunities for local artists to play in their own back yards, and we want to help. MusicFest began as a fundraiser to help Lime Kiln. It starts our year out right, by bringing together great acts ranging from bluegrass to singer/songwriters to rock and roll. From these acts will come future concerts in the Bowl. And we hope that artists will gain increased exposure to get other area performances,” Renz said.
The schedule includes:
- 2 p.m. Rooster’s Ruckus
- 2:45 p.m. The Schofields
- 3 p.m. David Eakins and Steve Hoke
- 3:45 p.m. Kevin Wallace
- 4 p.m. Breakin’ Nu Ground
- 4:45 p.m. Mellyora
- 5 p.m. Walker’s Run
- 6:15 p.m. Loose Gravel
- 7 p.m. C. E. Jones and Mike Seeger
- 7:40 p.m. Honest Scoundrels
- 8:30 p.m. Leslie Tucker, Jim Brown and Dan Newhall
