Sun and 80 degrees
Stop the Presses column by Chris Graham

I know that the farmers need the rain.
I’ve long since gotten that.
The weather people tell us that constantly.
Why don’t they ever go on and on about how, I dunno, the humor writer needs sun and 80 degrees?
I mean, it wouldn’t hurt me if I had that as the backdrop for whatever it is that I do here once a week.
And if the weather folks would do that, hey, then I wouldn’t feel bad, like I do now when it’s sun and 80 degrees.
“Well, yeah, it’s sun and 80 degrees tomorrow, but the farmers need the rain.”
Right now, it’s pouring down rain outside my window. The rain is so loud that I can barely hear myself type this column.
I just came downstairs from the TV room – yeah, I actually live here in Downtown Waynesboro; drop by and see me sometime.
The guy reading the weather didn’t say anything I wanted him to say.
“Well, yeah, it’s raining cats and dogs, and will be through Saturday, but the writers need sun and 80 degrees.”
And I do need that – more than you can ever imagine.
I’d settle at this point for mostly cloudy and 65.
(I don’t ask for much.)
