Egleston announces candidacy for council seat

Politics is in DuBose Egleston’s blood.
“I have lived in Waynesboro since I was 4 years old, and very much want this city to progress and improve,” said Egleston, who announced his candidacy for the at-large seat on Waynesboro City Council at a press conference at city hall this morning.
Egleston will challenge incumbent at-large council member Frank Lucente in the May 6 election.
He served on city council previously from 1998 to 2002.
Egleston’s platform includes a promise to keep taxes low without sacrificing the current level of city service, studying the possibility of doing away with car decals, extending the hours for the city library to include Sunday hours and bringing a movie theater and skateboard park to the city.
He also pledged to do his part to bring an end to the divisiveness that has marked council actions the past three years.
“When I am elected, I will meet regularly with other council members one on one to improve our working relationship so that council can work efficiently and effectively together,” Egleston said.
“I will not be a rubber stamp for any other two council members, but will always strive to do the best for the citizens of Waynesboro on each and every decision,” Egleston said.
