The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network was recognized this week for getting the job done.
America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network awarded the Verona-based nonprofit two awards for operational efficiency, in the areas of Best On-Time Pickups and Best On-Time Receipts.
The local food bank singled out the efforts of assistant warehouse manager Norma Shifflett, office-services manager Betty Graham, Lord Fairfax Area branch manager Karen Lee, Thomas Jefferson Area branch manager Jack Jones, Lynchburg Area branch manager Kristi West, warehouse manager Lyn Hall and operations director Teresa Yates toward the honor.
“Continuing to be among the best in the country among 200 food banks in the nation is both outstanding and commendable,” food bank CEO Marty White said. “I am very proud of the hard work, commitment and passion that each and every staff member puts forth to make us the best we can be. At the end of the day, I am both humbled and thankful that this great team makes it possible for thousands and thousands of men, women and children to have access to food and nutrition benefits each day.”
