The #1 UVa. baseball team heads to Harrisonburg on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game against James Madison at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park. Fans are advised to arrive early as JMU is expecting a capacity crowd.

Noting the Cavaliers
Coming off an ACC series win at Pittsburgh, Virginia has now won all eight of its weekend series. UVa is one of five schools nationally to not have a losing weekend this year (Cal Poly, Florida State, Louisana-Lafayette, Louisville).
Virginia will play its next 10 games in the commonwealth of Virginia, including eight home games and midweek road contests at JMU and VCU. After giving up just two runs over the weekend, Virginia saw its team ERA dip to 1.98. That is tops in the ACC and tied for fourth nationally. Opponents are batting a miniscule .194, second lowest in the country.
The Cavaliers are batting .279 as a team, which ranks third in the ACC. Mike Papi leads the team in batting at .336, which is ninth in the conference.
UVa continues to lead the conference in fielding at .986. The Cavaliers committed just one error in its series at Pitt.
Virginia-JMU Series
Virginia leads its series with James Madison, 38-25-1. UVa is unbeaten in its last eight games against the Dukes (7-0-1; counting a 2012 tie).
UVa is 2-0 at Eagle Field (6-3 in 2010, 14-6 in 2012). JMU’s last win in the series was a 7-6, 14-inning triumph on April 25, 2007, at Davenport Field. Under Brian O’Connor, Virginia is 11-1-1 against JMU.
Virginia Against In-State Foes
Under the current coaching staff (since 2004), the Cavaliers have a 98-16-1 record against in-state opponents, including an 8-1 mark this year. UVa was 9-3 last year against foes from the commonwealth of Virginia in 2013.
Last Meeting: Virginia 13, JMU 2 (March 11)
Virginia broke a 1-1 deadlock with an eight-run third inning, and five UVa pitchers combined to scatter six hits as the Cavaliers defeated JMU 13-2 on March 11 at Davenport Field.
The top third of UVa’s starting batting order had a big day, as Branden Cogswell and Daniel Pinero each went 3-for-4, while Mike Papi homered twice and drove in three runs. Connor Jones started and worked four innings to earn the win for UVa.
Tough Schedule To Wrap Up April
Virginia’s April schedule will not be easy. UVa has home ACC series with No. 15 Clemson and North Carolina the next two weeks before heading to No. 1 Florida State April 25-27.
UVa has midweek road games at JMU, VCU and ODU over three of the next four Tuesdays.
Noting JMU
JMU is 11-17 after taking two of three games in its CAA series at Hofstra last weekend. Matt Tenaglia leads the team in batting at .371, while Ty McFarland is having a big season, batting .371 with eight homers and 22 RBI. The Dukes have a .288 team batting average.
JMU has a 7.12 team ERA and a .957 fielding percentage.
